Drama & Theater Performance
Adapting classical literature to the live stage through character acting, voice control, movement, and ensemble performance.
Performing Literature on Stage
This portfolio showcases my performance work in stage play productions organized by the English Literature department. It illustrates how I bring written characters to life through voice, movement, expression, and stage presence.
Under the English Literature curriculum at Universitas Pamulang, drama serves as a bridge between textual criticism and three-dimensional performance. This was a class assignment and theatrical production where I participated as an actress. Staging a play is a group project, requiring tight coordination between cast members, stage crew, directors, and lighting technicians.
Translating classic Shakespearean or Victorian dramatic structures into modern, readable stage presentations required me to manage:
- Character Psychology: Developing deep character histories to guide acting choices, body postures, and line deliveries.
- Vocal Presence: Controlling pitch, pace, and projection to communicate emotional subtext in theaters without microphones.
- Stage Navigation: Coordinating movements with actors, managing stage positioning, and adjusting pacing based on audience reactions.
My Impact on Stage
I delivered a compelling lead performance that conveyed character shifts and subtext without the aid of body microphones, projecting my voice to fill the entire theater.
What I Learned
This production strengthened my ability to collaborate with a large team under tight schedules, project my voice and emotion to fill a room, and translate literary character analysis into physical performance. It taught me how much storytelling depends on timing, presence, and trust between performers.
